Planning & Preparation

We don't just turn up on the day with a bunch of equipment and say: "So what are we going to do then?" No - not at all!

One of the most important things we need to plan with you is: what, in some detail,  is going to make up the content of the video.

The content will mostly be a filmed interview or interviews with the person or people who are contributing to the story. That means having conversations beforehand to agree what we're going to include. From there we'll prepare a set of questions to be asked when filming that will draw out all those lovely story bits. We'll share those questions with you in advance, so you'll be prepared - but you really don't have to remember them or what you'll say. On the day it will all be very relaxed, comfortable and natural.

Other things we'll plan with you is exactly where the interview will take place, so that we can decide on things like camera positioning and lighting.

We'll also discuss in advance things like photographs you may want to show and any other material like video clips or documents.

One important consideration is how long you want the video to be. The 'standard' length is 30-60 minutes but other options are possible, depending on your budget. (See the 'Your Choices' page for more information.)

One way or another the agreed length of the video will affect how much can be included. When we plan it with you we'll discuss how much of what you'd like included can be fitted into what length.
